Kaarina Vuori is the first woman to be elected as the President of the Finnish Floorball Federation. Vuori was elected to this position after Risto Kauppinen resigned from the presidency.

The meeting of the council was held on Saturday 23rd April in Vantaa, Finland. Vuori will serve as the federation President until the end of 2023, when the term of the current board expires. Vuori was the board’s proposal for a President, which was approved unanimously by the council. She will rise from the position of Vice President of the board.

Vuori is also an IFF Central Board (CB) member. She joined the IFF CB in 2019 and her current term ends in 2024. Vuori has vast experience from floorball, both on and off the field. She has worked as a Competition Coordinator at the IFF, been part of the SSBL Competition Committee, a leader of girls’ floorball project at SSBL and handled LOC duties at World Floorball Championships organised in Finland. Vuori has also experience from playing in Finnish top league and in the Women’s U19 team. She has also been a youth coach and team leader of the Finnish Women’s and WU19 national teams.

— Thank you for your trust. A responsible and interesting task. I may not be a prototype of a federation boss, but let’s take advantage of it and look forward to it, Vuori said in her thank you speech.

— There are interesting projects underway from the grassroots to the F-liiga. Personally, I expect that later this year we will be able to implement new forms of play for new target groups for which plans already exist. Now we’re wrapping up our sleeves and putting things going, she lined up.

The election of the President was exceptional this time after Risto Kauppinen announced at the beginning of April that he would resign for civil and family reasons. Kauppinen served as President for the first time in 1994–2001 and then again in 2018. The most recent election took place in late 2020. The President and the board are elected by the general meeting of the association, which is held every three years, but between meetings of the association, the decision-making power of the members is exercised by the council to the extent the rules of the procedure provide.
