Floorball Köniz won the Men’s Superfinal against the defending champion SV Wiler-Ersigen 3-2 and became champions for the second time after 2018. Köniz also secured a ticket to the Champions Cup 2022.
50 fans were able to support the teams on site in the AXA Arena in Winterthur. And after just 39 seconds, Stefan Hutzli scored the early opening goal for Köniz. Köniz was able to continue to exert pressure and create opportunities. But it was SV Wiler-Ersigen who equalised in the eighth minute thanks to a goal by Marco Louis. Köniz took the lead back just three minutes later with a goal from Manuel Engel and only seconds later, the lead was increased to 3-1 with an own goal.
In the second period Wiler took advantage of a Köniz penalty and Tatu Väänänen scored Wiler’s second goal. In the last period Wiler pressured but Köniz defence blocked successfully or could rely on Patrick Eder in the goal. Thus, as in 2018, Köniz could celebrate the victory and Swiss championship title.
– We dreamed of winning this title, It was good to take the lead early. However, we always did a little too little offensively after the goals and that is also the reason why the result was so close, Eder commented in Swiss Floorball Associations press release.
