According to the Latvian Floorball Union (LFU) President, Ilvis Pētersons, the goal for the women’s team is to get closer to the world’s top four floorball teams:
– We have received good feedback about Jānis Inģists from the players and the staff of the national team, therefore he was appointed the head coach of the women’s team. In turn, LFU hopes to get closer to the world’s top four ranked teams with this team, Ilvis Pētersons, commented in an interview with the Latvian news agency LETA.
At the end of last year’s Women’s World Floorball Championships in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, the Latvian team took the eighth place, winning one game over Norway and losing to Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, Poland and Germany. In the previous WFC two years ago in Slovakia, Latvia took the sixth place. So far, Latvia’s best performance in the Women’s WFC was in 2007, when the team was placed fourth.
