Michael Zurcher has decided to end his playing career. The 39-year-old defender represented GC Unihockey during the past seasons in the Swiss NLA.
For Michael Zurcher the season 2019/20 became his last. Zurcher played in the Swiss NLA team Grasshopper Club Zurich (GC Unihockey) since 2011. He has also represented HC Rychenberg Winterthur earlier, when he started playing in the NLA back in 2001. He also played three seasons in SV Wiler-Ersigen. Zurcher has won the Swiss Championship four times and the Swiss Cup twice. He has also experience from the Swedish Super League, where he played two seasons in IBK Dalen in 2006-2008.
Zurcher is also known from the Swiss national team. He represented Switzerland seven times in the Men’s World Floorball Championships. His last appearance in the Men’s WFC was in 2016 in Riga, Latvia. In total he has played 41 Men’s WFC matches and gathered 37 points (17+20). In total, Zurcher has played 139 international matches and has scored 47 goals and 56 assists. With these statistics he secured a place in the Top 5 of the eternal roster of the Swiss men’s national team.
