Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak many of the national floorball leagues have been effected and also the upcoming IFF Events and multi-sport events are continuously being evaluated. Since the last update on March 20th, new decisions have been made in Austria, Belgium, France, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain and Slovenia.

Almost all national leagues have been cancelled for this season and in most countries no champions are crowned. In Poland and Sweden, the regular season winners, were crowned national champions 2020:

  • Champions in Poland: Interplastic Olimpia Osowa Gdańsk women & KS Górale Nowy Targ men
  • Champions in Sweden: Iksu women & Falun men

IFF Events & Multi-sport Events

Since January 2020, COVID-19 has had an impact on the IFF Events and the IFF Executive Committee had to cancel the Men’s World Floorball Championships Qualification tournament in Bangkok, Thailand, based on the fact that Thailand was not in a position to organise the event. Read more here. On the 20th of March, the IFF ExCo also made the decision to postpone the Women’s U19 WFC 2020 to September.

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has also cancelled the World University Floorball Championships 2020 planned to be held in Koper, Slovenia, from the 24th to 28th of June 2020 (The World University Championship Department will work on the possibility to postpone the event to the same period in 2021).

As the dates for the Olympics now clash with the World Games 2021, The World Games are urgently working on finding a new time period for The World Games 2021 in Birmingham.
