High stakes are at display as the Finnish Cup is historically played for the first time in Tallinn, Estonia. The event provides great floorball experience for the floorball fans and enthusiast in Estonia, Latvia and beyond. The games will also be streamed live on the IFF YouTube channel!
The Finnish Floorball League has a new strategy and part of it leans towards the foreign markets. The Finnish Cup finals serve as a step toward international markets and a chance to introduce some of the best floorball clubs in the world for a geographically wider audience. This is the first time that the Finnish Cup finals are played outside of Finland.
– We are very excited to provide top floorball for the growing international audience and for floorball fans. Estonia creates an intriguing trip for the Finnish fans and makes top floorball accessible for international fans – especially those in Estonia and Latvia. We have a good cooperation with the Estonian Floorball Union as well as marketing cooperation with the Latvian Floorball Union, which both have showed great enthusiasm and strong interest towards the event. We have already surpassed the early ticket sales of last year’s final. It indicates that there is a good chance to fill up the arena, thus buying the tickets beforehand is strongly advised, says Finnish Floorball League’s Marketing Manager Toni Nikunen.
The Men’s teams include all-stars calibre rosters as Classic has some of Finland’s and world’s best players, including sniper Sami Johansson, skilled centre Nico Salo (national team captain), Juha Kivilehto, a-four-time-champion-of-the-world and so forth. Nokian KrP brings the Latvian national team defender Morics Krumins, all-time leading scorer in Finnish Floorball league – Henri Johansson, young power play specialist Joona Rantala and the tall goalie Miro Tuomala. This is going to be something special to follow!
Last season the same team’s PSS and SB-Pro battled against each other at the Women’s Finnish League finals. Now they are competing for the Finnish Cup trophy. PSS, the last year’s Cup champion, bring in the scoring Holmberg sister’s, feisty defender Inka Lampinen and skilled centre Ella-Riikka Sundström. SB-Pro, the current Finnish champion have the three (!!!) identical twin duos in Lirkki, Hietamäki and Kujala to bring star power together with the outstanding Tiltu Siltanen guarding the net.
The matches will also be streamed live on the IFF YouTube channel. The production company is MindMedia, who have produced the WFC qualifications.
