The Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland are exchanging referees in December and January. The purpose of the exchange, that takes place in both the women’s and men’s top leagues, is to develop the referees and let them gain international experience on a high level. At every game the referees are coached by a referee observer from the national federation of the receiving country.

During the weekend, the international referee pair from Switzerland, Corina Wehinger and Sandra Zurbuchen, wrote a new chapter in floorball history by becoming the first female referees to officiate a Men’s Super League match in Sweden.

– I’m very glad that we got this exchange project on the way and are convinced that we will continue to do this on a regular basis. It has been almost solely positive reactions from teams and players, says Mattias Linell, Referee Coordinator of the Swedish Floorball Federation.

Corina and Sandra have vast experience from the international level with the Men’s World Championships 2018 and Champions Cup 2020 on their record. This weekend Corina and Sandra added the Men’s Super League in Sweden to their list, when they officiated the games Kalmarsund-Höllviken and Växjö-Pixbo.

– The referee exchange was a great pleasure for us and very helpful for our development. It was an honour to be invited by the Swedish Floorball Federation and we will take home some good feedback with which we can work further on in Switzerland and improve, Corina Wehinger and Sandra Zurbuchen comment.
