Two teams out of five competing in Italy at the Women’s U19 WFCQ will save their spots for the Final round. Austria and Russia take first steps towards U19 WFC 2020.
Austria – Netherlands
In the opening day of the Women’s U19 WFCQ in Lignanno Sabiadorro Austria played against Netherlands. The first period was even with only one goal from each side. #55 Ilona Hartman opened the result in the 12th minute with the assist of #38 Loena van Rooijen. In response #21 Julia Bachmayer scored with 1.5 minute left on the scoreboard. Only one more goal from the #14 Michelle Pittnauer was seen until the end of the match. The 2-1 win gives Austrian their first step to the U19 WFC Final round. Despite losing the match, Netherlands have plenty of positives to take away from their first U19 WFCQ 2019 match.
Russia – Italy
In the other game of the day, Russia easily beat Italy 16-0 as their best player #10 Kseniia Petrova scored 5 times – 4 goals assisted by #7 Tatiana Kozlova. Russia took the lead in the fifteenth minute and was dominant during the whole match. Italy were not able to get through a solid Russian defense and managed to shot only twice. The best player awards went to #28 Martina Falchi from Italy and #10 Kseniia Petrova (5+1) from Russia.
The competition resumes today with Hungary v Russia playing at 16:00 followed by the evening match at 19:00 between Italy and Austria.
