The 2019 Swiss Supercup will take place on Saturday 31st of August at Saalsporthalle in Zurich. This event will be the first highlight of the upcoming season, when the reigning Swiss champions and the reigning Cup winners will play for the Supercup title.
Men’s Supercup
Unihockey Tigers Langnau won the Swiss Cup last year and will be playing in their first ever Supercup against the reigning Swiss champion, SV Wiler-Ersigen. SV Wiler-Ersigen have won the Supercup twice before, in 2015 and in 2017. For this season the team got even stronger when two Finnish national team players, Joonas Pylsy and Krister Savonen, transferred to Wiler-Ersigen. Both teams have prepared for the season start. SV Wiler-Ersigen played in the Latvian Open and lost the final against the Finnish Classic. Tigers won the Tigers Cup after defeating the NLA-teams Floorball Köniz and UHC Thun and Tatran Stresovice from Czech Republic.
Women’s Supercup
The teams playing in the women’s Supercup know each other well. Both Kloten-Dietlikon Jets and Piranha Chur have won the title twice and it will be interesting to see, which team will take home the third win. Same teams are used to play in the Swiss Superfinal and Kloten-Dietlikon Jets is the double winner from last season when they won both the Swiss Cup and the Swiss Championship. The match will be important preparation for both teams, after going through changes in the squad. Jets also have a new coach, since Jürg Kihm has joined the team.
