Last weekend in the city of Kyiv, a long-awaited play-offs took place among the teams of the men’s top league, women’s top league and men’s first league. Under one roof, 12 qualified teams gathered together in order to determine who will become the champions of Ukraine and who will advance from the men’s first league. 

Men’s Championship

Men’s play-offs became very intriguing story. Both semi-final games went to overtime. Lemberg managed to turn the game around against Kyiv Floorball Club and to win with 11-10 in overtime. In the second semifinal Skala Melitopol won against Yantar with the same score 11-10, also in overtime.

Yantar won the bronze medal after defeating Kyiv Floorball Club. The final game was played between the big dominants of Ukrainian floorball, Lemberg Lviv and Skala Melitopol. After a well fought game, Lemberg managed to win a well deserved and long awaited title with the final score 8-4. This was Lemberg’s first title in the men’s championship.

Women’s Championship

In the women’s championship, four teams qualified for play-offs: Skala Melitopol, Kyiv Floorball Club, Lemberg (Lviv) and Yantar (Novoiavorovsk). The results from the play-offs turned out to be somewhat unexpected. The reigning champion Skala Melitopol lost against Lemberg in the semi-finals, while Yantar won comfortably against Kyiv Floorball Club.

In the bronze game Kyiv Floorball Club won against Skala Melitopol in overtime. Lemberg became the debutantes of the championship, although they ended up second after the defeat in the final. And gold medals went to Yantar, the favourites, who won the final with the score 11-1.

Men’s First League

Among the teams of the first league were: Beaters (Poltava), Zaporozhye (Zaporozhye), Lemberg-2 (Lviv) and Iceberg (Lutsk).

The third place went to Zaporizhzhya after beating Biters Poltava in the bronze game. Iceberg Lutsk was the runner-up and the gold medals went to the boys from Lemberg-2. With this Iceberg Lutsk also advanced to men’s highest league next season.

  4. Biters (Poltava)
