WFC Qualifications in Trencin continued today with three games. Winners of today were Germany, Russia and Slovakia.

The day started with the match between Germany and Spain. Both teams were recovered from yesterday’s defeat and today we saw a tight fight between the two teams. In the end Germany was more efficient in scoring, starting in the second period. Although Spain was only couple goals behind, it was just too much. Finally, Germany won the game 6-3. Anna-Lena Best received the best player award from Germany. Best has showed good game performances through the qualifications and she did not end that today. From Spain, the award was given to Laura Martinez-Villanueva Portanova, who scored Spain’s first goal in the game.

Austria and Russia were playing in the second match today. Austria fought well until the halfway of the first period, when Russia took control of the game. Until the very end, Austria cheered their goals loudly and set an example of excellent team spirit. Final numbers 13-4 for Russia. Best players of the match were Russia’s Mariia Basargina and Austria’s Hanna Riedbert.

The last game saw a real change in attendance numbers and Slovakian supporters arrived to cheer for their favourite. In the beginning, the Netherlands were able to show what they were made of. No easy goals were give to the opponent and game stayed tight until the 32nd minute. After that, the crowd got what they were looking for and Slovakia took their first points in the qualifications. Final numbers 8-2. Michaela Sponiarova (SVK) was a top scorer today with her 4 goals and she was awarded the best player of the match. Rebecca Krauts was the best player from the Netherlands today with points 2+0.
