The EUR1 and EUR3 World Floorball Championships qualifications started today in Gdansk, Poland. Sweden, Czech Republic and Poland won their matches on the first day.
In the first match the reigning champion, Sweden, set a new IFF record by scoring 61 goals and blanking France. Sofia Joelsson was the top scorer of team Sweden (10 + 5) and was also elected best player of the team. The French goalie, Lucie Thevenet, saved 45 shots and was elected best player of team France.
Estonia was a tough opponent for Czech Republic. After 40 minutes Czechia was leading by only one goal, 4 – 3, but in the third period the Czechs scored six goals and settled the match. Adela Bocanova (4 + 1) was elected best player of Czech Republic. The goalie, Saskia Ormak, with 23 saves, was elected best player of Estonia.
In the last match Poland outplayed Italy in front of the home crowd and won the match 18-1. Agata Plechan (POL) and Sabina Sodaro in the Italian goal were elected best players.
