After Day 3 of the AOFC qualification we are left with 7 teams who are still in with a chance to qualify for WFC 2019. Korea will play for 7th position and their most likely opponent will be Philippines. However, Group A could go any way at this stage, so if they pull off the upset of the tournament and have a big win against host country Thailand tomorrow things might be different.

In Group B today, Malaysia beat Korea 8-6 which guarantees them a spot in one of the qualification games, while Japan’s 4-2 win over Singapore puts them in a good position to finish top of the group and receive direct qualification. The final group game tomorrow between Japan and Malaysia will determine who places 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the group.

In Group A, all four teams are still in with a chance although it is clear that some team’s chances of qualifying are better than others. Australia dominated again today against Philippines, winning 10-0, and look to be the team to win this group, but if New Zealand can break the Aussies and win tomorrow then it will be the Kiwis who could get the direct qualification. That would also rely on Philippines beating Thailand, but who knows what might happen. It is more likely that the games will go according to the rankings and the results so far, but Floorball is a funny game. So many what ifs!

Today’s first-time scorers were: Rosemary Burtenshaw (AUS) & Abbey Luttrell (AUS),
