On Day 2 of the 2019 WFCQ AOFC, Singapore made it two wins from two matches when they beat Korea 10-2, Australia started their tournament with a strong 8-2 win over Thailand, and Philippines made their WFCQ debut, but it was New Zealand who took the points in their match with a 4-2 win.

Singapore started very quickly and never gave Korea any real chance to get into the game. The Singaporeans looked much sharper than yesterday, while the Koreans struggled to control the ball and play their way out of their own end. Australia were in total charge of their game against Thailand for the first half, leading 5-0, but when the Thais scored two quick goals a bit of panic set in for the Aussies. In the last period, they regained their composure and got back to their own game to secure the win.

The Philippines team has done some intensive training for this event – they played in the Storvreta Cup in Sweden in the New Year and also spent some days training in Thailand prior to the competition. For a country making their WFCQ debut they were very competitive against New Zealand, but were not able to overcome their opponent. New Zealand struggled at times, but showed enough experience to play well when it counted, scoring some good goals.

Today’s first-time scorers were: Adeena Nagib (SGP), Taneeka LaBrooy (AUS), Adina Nachum (NZL), Hannah Bertschinger (NZL),
