The International Day of University Sport (IDUS) is celebrated annually on 20 September. The day is intended for promoting the importance of sport in the universities and in students´ daily lives.

International University Sport Federation (FISU) is the global leader in university sports and also the launcher of this day. Together with its 174 national university sport federations, the day is meant to draw attention to the key role universities can play in promoting physical education and value the healthy lifestyle. On September 20, FISU will mobilise citizens of all ages, in cooperation with university associations, clubs and partners. This year, the IDUS celebration takes place in Lausanne, Switzerland with “Lausanne in Motion” event on 22 September. The IDUS is declared by UNESCO.

World University Floorball Championships

Floorball is popular in universities and schools around the world. It started as a hobby for young people until it developed into today´s modern floorball in 1970s in Sweden. The World University Floorball Championships are organised for university students every two years.

The 8th World University Floorball Championshps were organised on the 26th to 30th June, in Lodz, Poland. Lodz University of Technology organised the championships together with FISU. In total, 8 countries participated with 7 teams in the men´s competition and 6 in the women´s. Czech Republic won the men´s tournament, and Finland was the winner of the women´s tournament.
