Floorball is growing in Ukraine and so is the cooperation with the Olympic movement.
On the 2nd of June during Ukraine Open 2018 the Olympic day was celebrated. On the initiative of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Lviv city council – department of youth and sports.
Two Olympians Yulia Levchenko and Vira Perederii visited the tournament and held a fun interactive warm-up session for the players who afterwards took the opportunity to talk and take photos with Yulia and Vera.
Yuliya Levchenko is a Ukrainian high jumper. She is the 2017 World Championship silver medallist, and the winner of Youth Olympics 2014 in Nanjing, China. Yuliya is also one of the inspirational young change makers for the Your Olympic Games in Buenos Aires 2018.
Vira Perederii is a member of the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics team that competed at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 and was a young ambassador at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Lillehammer 2016.
This isn´t the first time the Ukrainian Floorball Federation (UFF) has collaborated with Olympic sports. They have also introduced floorball for the Ukrainian Olympic Boxing team and have had cooperation with the Ice Hockey Federation:
– It’s important as general way to increase the awareness and visibility of Floorball. But also increase our network of connections and find win win situations with other Sport Federations, says Tamuz Hidir the President of UFF.
