The first day of WFCQ 2018 EUR1 gave two clear victories and one draw from which the home team was one of the winners.

Finland-Poland 13-1

The day started with the match between Finland and Poland. The Finnish team scored their first goal already after 17 seconds and the second only 33 seconds later and it looked very much like the game was over already by then. Finland dominated the ball most of the time leaving Poland very few chances to succeed. Poland’s first and only goal was scored in the end of second period.

Belgium-Netherlands 5-5

Belgium and Netherlands had a really good start to the tournament. The match started slow as both teams were being cautious. The lead 2-0  in the end of first period for Netherlands was mainly thanks to one lucky goal and amazing saves by Netherlands’ goalie. After the slow start the game really took off as both teams worked hard and in the 2nd period also Belgium found the net twice. The third period was an intense thriller until the end of the match with both teams scoring beautiful goals and Netherlands equalizing to 5-5 with just over a minute left of the match.

Estonia-Liechtenstein 13-2

The last match of the day had a calm start with mainly Estonia keeping control of the ball. Liechtenstein worked hard in defense troughout the match and managed to realize the few opportunities they had in the match. Almost every Estonian player succeeded in making points in the match. As well in the first as in the second period Estonia scored 4 and Liechtenstein 1. In the last 10 minutes Estonia added 5 goals leading the final result to 13-2.
