Russia and Italy played in the last match of the day here in Celano. During the first period, Russia didn´t really fore check at all, which might have been because of their slim roster. Italy kept holding the ball and tried to build attacks and some beautiful goal scoring chances were seen. Russia relied on fast counter attacks, which were also fruitful as they led the match 2-0 after 15 minutes. Italy was able to even the score before the end of the first period. The tactics remained the same in the second period and Russia was able to gain a 5-2 lead. Only one second was left on the clock as Italy decreased the score to 3-5.
