Two Women’s WFC 2017 qualifications are played in Madrid in Spain. Europe 1 and Europe 4. The first games of the day were group Europe 1 game and the two last games were group Europe 4 games. Latvia met Ukraine in the first game and this was the first time for Ukrainian women’s team to play in the WFC level.
Latvia didn’t show any mercy to the team Ukraine and there were not much else for the Ukrainians to do, than just to try to defense as well as they possibly could. Unfortunately, that tactics was not very efficient and score being 11-0 for Latvia after the first period gave quite clear impression to the team Ukraine, who is controlling the game. Ukraine nevertheless scored their first goal ever on this level and that at least gave them some joy, despite the somewhat overwhelming 31-1 victory for team Latvia.
The last game of the first day was Czech Republic versus Spain. Spain fought really hard in the first period and all the way until the half way of the second period, but after that Czech showed their skills and effective playing style. An unfortunate own goal changed the score to 4-1 for the Czechs and after that Czech ruled the playing area the way they wanted.
16-1 for the Czechs and team Spain started to make some new plans for the next day’s game against Latvia.
