The IFF Disciplinary Committee (DC) has sanctioned Henrik Stenberg, from Storvreta IBK (Sweden), with a two match suspension for an incident in the IFF Champions Cup final match between Storvreta IBK and Classic (Finland).
The incident, where Stenberg made contact with the opponent goalkeeper’s helmet at 25:01 in the match, was unsighted by the match referees and was subsequently reported by the IFF Jury and referred to the Disciplinary Committee.
The DC found that although there was no apparent intent to hurt the opponent, Stenberg’s actions were unnecessary and reckless, and that contact with the head & neck area was dangerous.
As the infraction happened when playing for his club team, the suspension must therefore be served in the national series of his club. Stenberg is sanctioned from playing from the 18th of October until the 24th of October, which includes two games of Storvreta IBK in the SSL.
