The women’s second semi-final was a real thriller. Weissenfels led Olimpia Osowa for a long time until the Polish team tied the game with force. In the end, after penalty shots Weissenfels were the better team and headed to the final tomorrow 12:00 against the Norwegian Sveiva IB.

The picture of the game was clear from the start. Weissenfels possesses the ball and tries to open Olimpia’s defense with longer attacks and Olimpia will try to find space for counter attacks and give high pressure sometimes when they have a good opportunity for that. The German side managed to follow their game plan better and scored two solid goals by Magdalena Tauchlitz and Pauline Baumgarten. Since Olimpia shot also from weaker spots and areas, Indra Reck had to do more saves than Olimpias goalie Dominika Marzec.
The second period was more Olimpia’s period. The Polish team took the game under their control and the Germans had to focus on defending in their own zone. Still Olimpia couldn’t find a way to score goals before their powerplay in the later part of the period. At 35:55 Marta Chudyszewicz decreased the score to 2-1 from in front of the net. With 2-1 being the score the teams headed to the second intermission.
In the third period UHC Weissenfels was the leading party in the first ten minutes and could score first by Laura Neumann. The last ten minutes went under Olimpia’s command and the Polish team could even tie the game before sixty minutes with goals scored by Weronika Gradzka and Anna Raczkowska.
The overtime was scoreless even though both teams had good chances to get the virctory. So, the game went to penalty shootout. Weissenfels won them 3-1 and headed to the final against Sveiva IB. In the shootout Pauline Baumgarten, Katja Leonhardt and Magdalena Tauchlitz scored for UHC. Weronika Gradzka was the only goal scorer of the Polish team in penalties.
The most effective players of the game were Pauline Baumgarten (UHC), Laura Neumann (UHC) and Weronika Gradzka (Olimpia) all by points 1+1.
