TV Lilienthal won the fifth place in the EFC 2016 by defeating Spartak Moscow.

In the first period both teams really showed that there still is enough hunger left to win the last game of the tournament. Even though both teams had their chances in the first period shots on goal were clearly for Spartak since Nils Hallerstede saved nine shots and Fedor Ignatov only three shots. Both teams managed to score once. Jaakko Åkman put Lilienthal to 1-0 lead at 11:03 but Vladislav Piskunov tied the game at 16:04.
In the second period Nikita Bryn shot Spartak into 2-1 lead at 24:05. Janos Bröker tied the game three minutes later but Vladislav Piskunov did his second goal of the evening at 31:52. That was also the last goal of second period which was really even. So, the second intermission started in numbers 3-2 for Spartak.
In the third period Lilienthal pushed on the gas pedal and Spartak fell behind. Lilienthal won the last period 7-1 and the whole match 9-4.
The most effective players of Lilienthal were Mark-Oliver Bothe (2+2), Janos Bröker (2+2) and Jaakko Åkman (3+0). Vladislav Piskunov from Spartak Moscow scored twice.
