UHC Weissenfels will also play in the men’s EFC 2016 final match. They will meet SK Lielvarde who they lost against in the group stage with numbers 4-3.
SK Link/Saku-UHC Weissenfels 3-8 (1-1, 0-1, 2-6)
The first period was a 20 minute clip of “Hawaii-floorball” where the game goes from end to end like waves. Nobody really kept calm and controlled the game and there were fast breaks after fast breaks. Link/Saku could score 1-0 when Weissenfels defense fell asleep for some seconds but UHC tied the game already in the next shift. Goal scorer from the Estonian team was Mats Tamme and from UHC Axel Kuch. Shots on goal were the only thing where UHC led clearly since Siim Stokkeby saved 11 shots and Tobias Köstler on UHC goal saved three shots.
The second 20 minutes were a little bit more under Weissenfels’ control, but not totally. Both teams defended pretty well by keeping each other away from the most dangerous shooting places. Weissenfels’ third line arranged the only goal of the period at 25:48 when Phillip Weigelt gave a great pass to the middle to Max Blanke who shot the ball to the net. The score was 2-1 for Weissenfels after 40 minutes.
In the third period Weissenfels really took the one needed step up to win the game. Anssi Soini scored 3-1 on powerplay after 21 seconds of play. Max Blanke continued by scoring 4-1 four minutes later. Soini did 5-1 at 45:15. Sander Stokkeby gave light to the end of the tunnel for Link/Saku by scoring 5-2, but Thomas Händler depressed the Estonians again. Blanke scored his third of the evening after a great assist from Sascha Herlt at 51:01. Mats Tamme could decrease the score once more, but Soini put the end result 8-3 to the empty Estonian net a minute before the game ended.
Max Blanke was totally the man of the match. The Weissenfels third line power forward did what was needed to get the victory and his 4-1 goal was the game winning goal. Also Soini did 3+0. Link/Saku’s best was Mats Tamme by scoring twice.
