Norwegian champions in women, Sveiva IB, and Polish champions Olimpia Osowa played a really tight match in the first game of the EFC 2016 tournament. Olimpia was leading for long, but in the third period Sveiva turned tha game over to their advance.

Sveiva IB – Interplastic Olimpia Osowa Gdansk 4-3 (1-3, 1-0, 2-0)

Sveiva kept the ball for the first few minutes, but Olimpia´s Anna Romanowska scored the first goal with an impressive individual effort when 3:20 was played. Sveiva´s Kristine Torp tied the game only a minute and a half later. After that, Olimpia kept defending really well and stroke with counter attacks always when they had a chance. Maja Stenka and Anna Szychta added the Polish team lead to 3-1 before the first period ended.

Already in the start of the second period Sveiva put the ball into Olimpia´s net, but it was broken before it got there, so the goal was disallowed. Norwegian team got their second goal of the game when eight minutes had been played in the second period. The scorer was Diana Isjomina. Sveiva controlled the game but couldn’t tie the game thanks to Olimpia´s tight defense, great shot blocking and their goalie Dominika Marzec who did 11 saves in the period.

Olimpia tried to secure their lead in the last period, but Sveiva was too strong. They started to find more space inside the Polish team´s defense and tied the game when only five minutes was left. Sveiva´s hero was in the end Julie Gidske who shot a beautiful goal only two seconds before the end.
