Even though the last game of the day between UHC Sparkasse Weissenfels and FBC Spartak Moscow seemed quite clear in the beginning, it became to be an exciting thriller – a one goal game.
UHC Weissenfels-FBC Spartak Moscow 6-5 (3-0, 3-1, 0-4)
The tempo of the game was high in the first period. Ball kept moving and both of the teams seemed a little bit nervous during the first minutes until Weissenfels’ first goal at 5:35 by Tim Böttcher. After that Weissenfels took the game under control and they scored 2-0 at 15:03 by Max Blanke. 3-0 came only 30 seconds later and was made by Anssi Soini. Soini did a great individual move and with that it was maybe the goal of the day. The first intermission took place when Weissenfels were three goals ahead.
In the start of the second period Weissenfels gave a cold shower to Spartak by scoring twice in 38 seconds. The goals were scored by Anssi Soini and Axel Kuch. The Russian team took a time-out and started to play better and better. They controlled the game a little bit but didn’t get so many chances even though Timofei Baskakov decreased the score to 5-1. Weissenfels focused on fast counter attacks and in the last minute of second period Sacha Herlt did 6-1 which were the numbers also at second intermission.
Something happened during that intermission because in the third period UHC Weissenfels started to lose their grip of the game and Spartak played better and better. Ten minutes before the end Markus Neimo decreased to 6-2 and just minute after that the score was already 6-3 by Nikita Bryn. Again a minute later Timofei Baskakov scored for the Russians . When there was five minutes left in the clock Dimitry Kurach had scored the 6-5 goal for Spartak. Weissenfels stood their ground and let no more goals in and won the game with those numbers 6-5.
The best scorer of the game was Spartak’s Timofei Baskakov with points 2+1. Anssi Soini from UHC Weissenfels scored twice.
