A lot has happened concerning the development of Floorball in the Serbia during 2009 and now the Men´s National team is preparing for the World Floorball Championships Qualifications organised in February in Poland. Below is a glimpse to the steps taken by the SFA in 2009.
January – February
The Serbian Floorball Association enrolled for the WFC 2010, and in February 2010 Serbia men will play in the qualification tournament in Poland. Serbia will in group “B” together with France, Hungary and Austria. The IFF WFCQ Europe 1 web page
In February, Fbk “Stari grad”, together with Serbian Floorball Association, started free floorball school and trainings in elementary school “Drinka Pavlovic” in the center of Belgrade for studens of age 15 and younger. This action was also supported by IFF who donated 85cm and 95cm sticks for the children.
April – May
In April the second Serbian Floorball champinships were played and Fbk “Stari grad” won the national championship 2008/09 as they defeated Fbc Pirates in fifth game of play-off finals. In April/May, Selection of players from Serbia (Team Belgrade) took part in Goteborg Cup 2009. They brought home great experience from Sweden and shared it with others.
In May Serbia hosted players from Slovenian champion team “InSport – Skofja Loka” and two friendly games were played for the weekend.
Also the students from elementary school “Drinka Pavlovic” played floorball for the first time on 40×20 field with rink. The match was organized and financed by Serbian Floorball Association and Fbk Stari grad. Another foreign team players visited Belgrade. This time two friendly games were played with Hungarian team “Dunai Krokodilok”. This event put an end to a 2008/09 floorball season in Serbia.
August – October
In August 2009 during the preseason and the summer break, Serbia participated with a club team in the Slovenian international floorball tournament “SLOopen09”.
It was the second appearance for team from Serbia in SLOopen tournament.
In September a Serbian team participated in “Floorball BL 2009” tournament in Banja Luka (BiH). It was a good opportunity for the players that never played out of Serbian boarders to gain some international experience.
The third national championships started in October with four clubs competing for the champion title:

2. Fbk Partizan
3. Fbk Pirati
4. Fbk Stari grad
December 2009
SFA started promotions in schools on territory of central Belgrade. The promotions will be held in 6 elementary schools and 2 high schools until the end of the year. The idea of regional competition of some kind is still being considered and the SFA´s aim is to have some regional tournaments during next spring.
Now the SFA is in the process of applying for the Serbian Sport Association (SSS) membership.
