Magnus Svensson and Tero Tiitu are used to decide important games. In the WFC Final 2006 Svensson scored the golden gold for Sweden and in the 2008 final the tables were turned when Tiitu scored the winning goal and settled the first WFC victory for Finland.

Both of the game settlers met in the WFC 2010 press conference yesterday, which has been widely followed by the national media in Finland.

One year before the championships both Floorball stars feel that their team will be the challenger in the championships:
– For the first time we are the challengers and the Swedish team is looking forward to defeat the reigning champion in front of their home crowd, Svensson said in the press conference.

Tiitu was however of the opinion that the Swedes are still the favourites:
– Even though we won last year Sweden can not be called a challenger with their six WFC victories, Tiitu explained.

Tiitu is looking forward to play in front of an enthusiastic home crowd in the Hartwall Arena:
– In the 2002 World Championships the stands of the Hartwall Arena were crowded with young floorball fans and hopefully these fans will find their way to the Hartwall Arena again. In addition, I hope that also other sport fans will find the Floorball championships right from the start. Last year´s WFC final in Prague showed that the world´s fastest team sport can be amazingly entertaining.

The top is getting tighter

Although Finland and Sweden can be considered the favourites in the Men´s World Championships, the top is getting tighter year by year and especially Switzerland and Czech Republic are tough opponents for both Finland and Switzerland. Both semi-finals in the WFC 2008 were extremely tight and Sweden settled their spot in the final only after an overtime goal against Switzerland.
