A Floorball Development Seminar was organised in New Zealand and a Floorball Development Workshop was held in Singapore for regional instructors.

IFF organised a Floorball Development Seminar in Wellington, New Zealand on the 11th to the 13th of September together with the local Floorball club. One of the objectives of the seminar, which run in two separate blocks – refereeing and coaching, was to help re-establish the New Zealand Floorball Federation, which has been inactive for a while. The seminar brought together Floorball activists from both Wellington and Auckland, as well as some participants from Australia.

The plan for New Zealand is to re-organise the federation in connection to the upcoming Wellington Open, where teams from Auckland, Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington and also Australia. The seminar also focused on how to build and organise clubs and recruit players and build school programmers.

For the further development of Floorball in New Zealand, IFF believes that the seminar will prove to have been very beneficial and IFF is looking forward to see an New Zealand national team participate in the AOFC in the coming year.

IFF Floorball Development workshop for regional instructors

In order to strengthen the good progress in the Asian region and to continue and enhancing the spreading of the sport based from Asia, the IFF Development function arranged a workshop for potential instructors from the AOFC member federations. The objective of the workshop was to train regional instructors, so that IFF then could use these in both potential regional IFF development seminars and also in country specific seminars. The workshop was held in Singapore, organised in co-operation with the Singaporean Association. In the workshop there were participants from Australia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.

Developing Floorball based on a common perception of the sport, it is a must for all to follow the guidelines of the IFF. The Development work has to be driven and steered by IFF. During the workshop, the objectives, the structure and the actual program of the Floorball Development seminars was analysed and the way to set up a seminar was discussed in both pairs and in working groups. The participants then discussed the different blocks and the different topics on the seminar, defining what is most important for developing countries in the region, making demonstration presentations of how the topics could be presented. The workshop ended in a practical training, where the participants presented drills they had made for a specific part of the training.

The IFF vice president Mr. Renato Orlando felt that overall the workshop proved to work very well and it will help the AOFC to make a suggestion to form a regional panel, which the IFF Development function will work with in the future.
