Rome is not the world capital of floorball, but some small steps are being taken in particular amongst the youth.

This weekend the second edition of the regional U14 championship was concluded.

The championship has been organised in four weekends during the spring, allowing each team to play a total of 10 matches. This year could see the Floorball Team Scuola Svizzera triumph ahead of the reigning champions from ASD Romana III Millennio.

The championship has been well organised, involving around 70 young players and also having a rather constant presence of 50-70 spectators during the matches.

Leonardo Lanzoni, Head of the Organization Committee, is very pleased with the results:

– It is great to see the enthusiasm among the these young players and their parents. We can see a continuous improvement both at individual and team level and this is important for the future of floorball.

School championships are being held in Rome since 2001 and this year a school tournament was for the first time held on big field, i.e. regular dimensions and five against five.
