After being left out of the medals in the last WFC on home ground, Switzerland won the bronze medals in this years tournament. Especially the good second period confirmed the 7-1 victory over Czech Republic.

The Swiss team used the same man cover tactic as yesterday against Finland. Due to this Czech Republic had the ball control and Switzerland concentrated more on the counter attacks. The first goal was seen five minutes before the first intermission when Niklaus Gassmann scored with a nicely performed wrist shot.

The second period was a strong performance by the Swiss team. They utilized the scoring chances well as they shot only five shots towards the Czech goal and were able to score four goals. Two of the goals were executed on power play by Marc Oliver Gerber. The Czech team reduced the lead once, but the tight Swiss defence was able to keep the Czech forwards out of the best scoring sector. The score in the second intermission was 5-1 to Switzerland.

Czech Republic was able to create good scoring chances in the third period, but they could not pass Pascal Meier in the Swiss goal. Gerber shot two more goals from the counter attacks and the final score was 7-1 to Switzerland and Switzerland celebrated the bronze.

Marc Oliver Gerber and Jiří Juhaňák were awarded as best players of the bronze game
