The Finnish Floorball Federation announced that Petteri Nykky has signed a new head coach contract with Finland Men´s national team. In the previous World Championships played in Czech Republic on December, Nykky coached the Finnish team to victory.

Nykky, 43, will start his third WFC project with Finnish Men´s team. The first project ended in WFC 2006 with sudden death goal loss to Sweden.

The second project had a happy end as in WFC 2008 it was team Finland which scored the sudden death goal in final and won the first WFC title in history.

Now signed contract for the third project will be until 31.12.2010 and will culminate to the WFC 2010.

There Finland has new challenges, the WFC is played in home field and for the first time the Finnish team is defending the WFC victory. Nykky comments his new contract:
– “I am of course happy for the possibility to continue with the national team. We have enormous amount of work to do to be able to defend the WFC victory. It is always harder to win the title again than do it for the first time. Also we have to pay attention to the extra pressure which comes from home crowd and media because the WFC is played in Finland.”
