Italy defeated Slovenia 4-3 and qualified to the WFC 2009 B-division.

Slovenia went into the lead after 8:30 but just 16 seconds later Italy equalized.
After 15:56 Italy had turned the match in their favour and could go to the 1st intermission with a 2-1 lead.

In the 2nd period the tempo went up a bit and chances to score were exchanged. After 27.25 Italy increased their lead to 3-1 and looked quite comfortable at that time. Slovenia then got a 2-minute penalty at 36:55 – and reduced shorthanded to 2-3 which also was the result after two periods.

The 3rd period looked very much as the 2nd, a lot of chances for both teams, and again it was Italy that increased their lead to 4-2 with 10 minutes to go. Slovenia put in the last of their energy but couldn´t get nearer than 3-4 (scored after 54:50).
