The IFF has applied for the recognition of the International Olympic Committee, as a part of our strategy to achieve full international acceptance and promote Floorball World wide. During the EuroFloorball Cup in Winterthur, IFF had the pleasure of welcoming the president of GAISF (General Association of International Sport Federations) Mr. Hein Verbruggen to the EFC matches.

The IFF Executive Committee had a meeting with Mr. Verbruggen discussing the way Floorball has been developed and the possibilities for Floorball to receive the recognition of the IOC. Mr. Verbruggen found Floorball to be a rapidly growing sport, which is very fast with a lot of action and therefore very attractive to watch. Mr. Verbruggen now saw Floorball being played for the first time live and really liked it, especially that the referees are not interrupting the game too much.

Mr. Verbruggen thought that Floorball has a very bright future with a lot of youth playing the sport, which is still growing all over the world. One problem has been that Floorball has been seen as a regional sport and this is one of the issues IFF will have to work with in order to gain its overall recognition.

Mr. Verbruggen felt that the IFF is a well organised international federation and promotes Floorball in a positive way and thought that there in the future could be different forms to include Floorball in different international multisport events.
