France was placed fifth after a thrilling match against the WFC debutant Serbia. The match was only settled after an overtime goal by Jérome Joaille.
The game was floating back and forth, both teams having good scoring opportunities. Michel Neumuller scored the first goal for France, but then Serbia´s Nikola Novakovic evened the score to 1-1, which was the score after the first period.
Marko Brankovic took Serbia to the lead in the second period, but the France was given every possible opportunity to even the score as the Serbians got three 2 min penalties in addition to one penalty shot for France. Finally, France could benefit from playing with one more player on the field, and during the third bench penalty Michael Lanini evened the score to 2-2.

With only one minute left of the game, Serbia´s Toni Valle sent the match into overtime and the Serbian substitution bench was cheering. In 61.00 Jérome Joaille scored the decisive goal for France and France is placed 5th and Serbia 6th in the WFC C-division.
