The Development seminar, being the first international event of Floorball in Argentina, took place on Saturday, 15th of March 2008, in the CeNARD (Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo) Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was attended by approximately 60 participants.
These participants- most of them sports teachers were given a brief history about the international movement of Floorball, recently known in Argentina as a new sport.
The special guest of that day was Mr. Renato Orlando from Switzerland, vice-president of the International Floorball Federation (IFF). He was assisted by Mr. Uli Reinmann, former national player in the Swiss team and first Floorball promoter in Argentina.
The development seminar consisted of two parts: a formal introduction of Floorball, and a practical part, including the presentation of techniques, tactiques and rules. After the introduction of Mr. Lic. Mariano Medici (president of the Argentinean Floorball Association) Mr. Orlando informed the audience about aspects of history and the present worldwide movement of Floorball. He focused on the importance of Floorball as a school sport in Europe and showed the possibilities of the development of Floorball in our country. Uli Reinmann explained some aspects of the rules and the use of the equipment (ball & stick).
After a short break, a Floorball workshop including exercises of the sports most needed abilities (passing, ball control, shots, elements of tactic and general aspects of the rules) was given by Uli Reinmann, Prof. Matias Segreti and Mr. Oscar Saporiti.
The participants played with great fun, even though some of them have never played Floorball before. This technical part ended with a series of games.
The president of the Argentinean Floorball Association, Mariano Medici, closed the seminar by expressing the necessity of capable persons to develop the sport in schools, clubs and universities.
In the name of the fully present CB of AAUF, the President, Mariano Medici, thanked all the participants for their most valuable support and also Mr. Orlando and IFF for their great assistance.
