Floorball is developing in Turkey and is currently played in six different parts of the country; Erzincan, Cappadocia, Ankara, Adana, Mersin and Istanbul. There are approximately 330 active floorball players in Turkey.

The international schools have also opened the doors for floorball and some of them have adapted floorball into their regular PE-program. Now the Universities have now also been approached and they have shown interest towards floorball.

The next step in Turkey is to establish more floorball clubs. Currently there are two floorball clubs, Ýstanbul Florbol Kulübü and Erzincan KKLGS Florbol Kulubu, but there needs to be 11 floorball clubs in Turkey before a National Association can be formed. The Florbol Turkiye has been formed to function as a national association until it is possible to form the official association. Mr. Vedat Ondas is the National Director of Florbol Turkiye and Mr. Hank Vainio is in charge of the international relations and training programs.

Amongst other things Florbol Turkiye is responsible for organising national and international floorball tournaments in Turkey, setting up floorball leagues and training administrators, officials, referees and coaches. One of the next big challenges is to organise the 2008 Istanbul Open Floorball Tournament (IOFT), to follow the successful IOFT in 2007. The 2008 Istanbul Open Floorball Tournament is played on Saturday the 26th of April 2008.
