Latvia and the reigning champion Switzerland played for the bronze in the WFC 2007.
Martina Mätzener scored the first goal in the bronze match for Switzerland. The Latvians were however not backing down as much as in their semi-final match yesterday but gave pressure to the Swiss defence and that tactic worked well in the beginning. In 12.05 Zeltite Bankava evened the score to 1-1. But only one minute later Andrea Hofstetter scored the second goal for Switzerland.
Latvia still had a great opportunity in the end of the first period, but the ball only hit the goal bar. The Swiss team did however not miss when they got a chance in 18.34 and Andrea Hofstetter scored her second goal of the match.
In the second period Switzerland got their game going. Daniela Morf increased the Swiss lead with two goals and Switzerland was going for the bronze. The Swiss pressure continued in the third period and the Latvian team was not able to take control of the game. Petra Kundert scored the sixth goal for the Swiss and the seventh and final goal was scored by Sara Schäfer. The bronze medallist for the WFC 2007 is Switzerland.
