The national champions of five top ranked associations will automatically qualify for the Men’s 2007 European Cup Finals and the National champions of six top ranked associations will automatically qualify for the Women’s Finals. Here are the latest updates from the leagues:
Men’s leagues:
Sweden – The Finals were played on Saturday 8.4.2006 in Globen Arena in front of 12987 spectators. AIK defeated Pixbo Wallenstam 6-2 and is the new Swedish Champion. Both AIK and the reigning EC Champion Warbergs IC-85 will play in the EC Finals 2007. Warberg IC-85 will play in group A and AIK in group B.
Finland – The defending Champion, SSV Helsinki, is playing versus Espoon Oilers in the Finals. Oilers leads 2-0 in a best-of-five system. The first two final matches can be seen on the MTV3 Internet-TV from here. The Finnish Champion will play in group B in the EC Finals.
Switzerland – The defending champion SV Wiler Ersigen will play versus UHC Alligator Malans in the Playoff Finals. The Playoff Finals start 12.4.2006 and are played on a best-of-five system. The Swiss Champion will play in group A in the EC Finals.
Czech Republic – The defending Champion, Tatran Techtex Stresovice, is playing in the Finals versus FBC SGB Pepino Ostrava. The situation is 1-1 in a best-of-five system. The Champion from the Czech Republic will play in group A in the EC Finals.
Norway – Greåker and Gjelleråsen will meet in the Final which is played 22.4.2006 The Norwegian club team will play in group B in the EC Finals.
Women’s leagues:
Sweden– The defending Swedish and EC Champion IKSU won the Swedish Championship Final versus Rönnby
6-4 in front of 8149 spectators in Globen Arena. This means that the national champions from six top ranked associations will automatically qualify for the EC Finals. IKSU will play in group A in the EC Finals.
Finland- NST from Lappeenranta won the Championship title when they defeated Classic from Tampere in the Playoff Finals 3-1 (best-of-five system). The final match had 1039 spectators which is a new record in the Women’s league in Finland. NST will take part in the EC Finals for the first time. NST will play in group B in the EC Finals.
Switzerland– The defending champion R. A. Rychenberg Winterthur will meet UHC Dietlikon in the Playoff Finals (best-of-five). The Playoff Finals start 11.4.2006. The Swiss Champion will play in group B in the EC Finals.
Czech Republic – FBC Liberec, the defending champions won the Championship title again by defeating FbŠ Bohemians from Prague in three straight matches and is then ready for the EC Finals. FBC Liberec will play in group A in the EC Finals.
Norway – Tunet IBK is the defending champion and will meet Sagene in the Final which is played 22.4.2006. The Norwegian club team will play in group A in the EC Finals.
Latvia – The defending champion, Rubene/Rants, won the Championship title when they defeated Latvijas Avīze in the Playoff Finals 2-0 (best-of-three). The Latvian Champion will play in group B in the EC Finals.
